Developing Your Small Business Marketing Online
The internet is an amazing tool for small business marketing. There are various strategies you can implement to advertise your business. When marketing using the internet, you automatically expose your business to the global population. This promises a successful business while having your products sold on the other side of the world.
However, online marketing can be just as competitive as offline businesses. This should not distress your enthusiasm because the right internet marketing strategies can allow you a successful business on the virtual market. By using the right techniques, you can reach a wider audience than you would if your business was offline. Here are some online tools you can use to promote your small business.
Social Networks as Strategies
Social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace etc all are increasingly being used as advertising tools. This is no surprise considering the number of consumers these top social networks attract. Creating a social page of your business that promotes services and/or products basically acts as a banner. Consumers can easily find our small business; they can choose to follow your page, which in turn promotes your page to their contacts. This type of small business marketing is highly effective. You will have to remember to constantly update the status of your services, allow fans to ask questions and allow conversations. Interactive internet marketing strategies prove beneficial. A quick response to their queries will increase the chances of marketing. While it may be tempting to cram information into your advertising platforms, make the information simple and to the point. Avoid long sentences and detailed explanations at first, especially if it is an introductory service or product.
Blogs and Forums for Marketing
Blogs and forums are another successful small business marketing tools. These make it easier for the audience to get to know more about your business. Blogs are platforms where you have the freedom to describe your services and products in detail. Include images, videos and other audio-visuals as internet marketing strategies. If you are looking at forums, you can choose one that has free webinars for subscribers. This allows you to network with members face-to-face, which is an important feature if you want to gain trust from your potential customers.
Enhance Your Business Credibility

Potential customers will rely more on user reviews than company reviews. For this reason, make sure your business is of high quality, including customer service and other marketing policies. small business marketing online can be an exciting endeavor when handled carefully. It eliminates the need of dealing with co-workers, hiring employees, office politics and so on. By applying the right internet marketing strategies, you can live off the income from your online sales.

Starting and Building Your Business
Building a business worth millions takes time.
I regularly speak to people who are new to business ( I love their infectious enthusiasm) but some have little or no experience in running a business. Their inexperience shows in their selling techniques. It might be a book, a video or a friend that's told them how to sell and you can see it.
Now, I don't want to be harsh on these people, after all we all had to start somewhere but starting and running a business is all about having experience, understanding your market (more importantly your customer) and adapting to situations and that takes time and effort.
Let me explain.
Image Linford Cristie, one of the fastest ever UK Sprinters, did he become the fastest while he was in nappies? No, he stood up as a child, wobbled, and then fell down. He did this many times, then he walked, then he ran, then he sprinted! And that's exactly how we hone our business skills. Were not born with them instantly, we have to try, we experiment and we refine. No business person has "never" made a mistake, believe me, if they say they haven't their lying! It's important to constantly look at yourself and your company and learn and adapt to your mistakes. If you're reading this and have just started in business I can tell you now you're going to make mistakes, but just learn from them.
I see so many people that say "no were not interested in the little customers, were only interested in the big boys" and that really makes me disappointed. It show's their lack of business acumen, their lack of understanding of what makes a really great business. When I set up my company I too wanted the Sainsbury's, the Boots, the Manchester United's but the only way to do it was to cut my teeth, or as we say in Yorkshire "get some wool on me back!". These big buyers aren't stupid, they would never change suppliers just because it's you, why the hell would they!
One guy once said to me "I want to get on the council tender list and show them how cheap I am" but that again is inexperience. If you knew anything, you'd know that once you've met their insurances, their health & safety standards, and their response times and more importantly their payment terms your going have to charge more anyway!
So let's look at what experience these bigger boys look for and why.
1. Qualifications (Do you have the experience to give them what they want)
2. Back up. (What happens if you're ill? Who takes over?)
3. Financial (Have you been trading long enough and have enough finances to fund larger work)
4. Do you have a depth of customer? (Will they be your number one supplier by far? If so this could spell
trouble)
5. Do you have systems in place? (Will they get their bills on time, how will the orders be processed etc.
etc.)
6. What Health & Safety, procedures have you in place? (Have you thought of all eventualities)
2. Back up. (What happens if you're ill? Who takes over?)
3. Financial (Have you been trading long enough and have enough finances to fund larger work)
4. Do you have a depth of customer? (Will they be your number one supplier by far? If so this could spell

5. Do you have systems in place? (Will they get their bills on time, how will the orders be processed etc.

6. What Health & Safety, procedures have you in place? (Have you thought of all eventualities)
You see where I'm coming from? Unless you have a budget of tens of thousands of pounds you need your business to have built experience and that only comes with time and focus. And it only comes from getting it from the smaller businesses, or individuals. These are the people that are the early adopters, the people that will risk dealing with you because they know you or trust you. Once you've proved yourself to these people, then they will tell others, they become part of your sales process. These people are spreading the word for you and as you grow so you get experience. Once you build a following then soon enough the larger companies will take note and give you some time. This is the basis of building a large company, a safe and sustainable company. It might take time but in the long run it'll be better and worth a lot more if you ever think of selling out for millions!
Good Luck.
The Way to Build a Successful Network Marketing Internet Business
Network marketing used to be a way of promoting products through face-to-face contact, where people invited other people they knew into their groups. Take Mary-Kay, Pre-paid Legal, Mona-vie, and countless others for example, everything is all very personal. Distributors invite folks into their own homes, hold party's, and give demonstrations in order to share their products. With the appearance of network marketing on the internet, this business is becoming much less private.
This is why most people are basically failing at network marketing. Although it may be possible to reach thousands of people on the internet, not just a few like in old school network marketing, many of the new and unskilled network marketers simply do not understand the whole concept of good old-fashioned marketing. They have not dealt with people in an one-on-one situation and they simply don't understand the whole idea of "attraction marketing". I bet this seems so straight forward, but it's a science. It's based off of the same idea that if you like me, you buy from me. This is how Mary Kay, Pampered Chef etc... Have stayed in the business so long, together with the many other successful MLM businesses. I know you have seen those pink Cadillacs driven by ladies they did not get those Cadillacs by selling just two lipsticks! So how can this old-fashioned idea of attraction marketing translate to the Internet?
Primarily if you set out to "help" people, they will be more receptive than if you set out to "sell" people. The Internet is still the information highway and that is where most people are looking to find information. They are routinely looking for information to clear up a problem. People are exceptionally well-educated nowadays thanks to the Internet, and they definitely do not purchase the first thing that comes along, they conduct thorough research first, and some will even visit social media sites like Facebook and YouTube, and ask questions on forums or read articles on the topic. That's precisely where you should be too! If your potential audience is out there already looking for you then why not place yourself in front of them? You won't just be saying "buy this it's the best" either. There is where most marketers fail. this isn't any different than face to face in reality. Would you spam your friends and family face to face? No, so why would you do it to everyone on the internet? You have to meticulously gain people's trust by posting educational articles and answering questions on forums related to your business, only then can you expect to get the leads which will ultimately bring you sales. This is known as "attraction marketing".

How to Make Your Internet Marketing Strategies Successful
Do you notice how most entrepreneurs are starting to use the Internet to promote their business? Well, this is not really surprising considering the obvious popularity of Internet among people regardless of the age group. With this, it is recommendable for you to start marketing your business in the Internet as well. For sure, you will gain more success since you are bringing your company - your products or services closer to your target audience. However, it is best to learn some tips on how to launch successful Internet marketing campaigns. This will help especially entrepreneurs who are new to this field:
- Make sure to portray good image for your company - your primary concern is the image of your company. Therefore, you should not launch anything on the Internet unless you are 100 percent satisfied with it. For example, you are not very comfortable in building websites then what you should do is hire someone who is expert in the field. You cannot risk the image of your company by trying to launch a site that is not well planned and executed. Also, be sure to proofread everything on the site to avoid any types of error that can cause harm to your image.
- Set up a blog - besides launching an official website for your business, it would also be great to set up a blog. On this blog, you could address your audience on a more personal level. You could also launch contests and other gimmicks to make the audience more engaged. A blog is also a good venue to make certain announcements for your products or services.
- Learn about SEO to boost the success of your campaign - are you familiar with SEO or search engine optimization? Well, this is the key to reaching your target audience. If your product or company is relatively new and small then you might have to work double to tap your target audience. With the help of SEO, you could find appropriate keywords for your website and eventually find a way to target your desired group of audience. You could seek help from SEO experts to boost your website's ranking and traffic.
- Be active in various social media networks - as you probably noticed social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others are so powerful because many people are part of these networks. Therefore, you should go where the people are. Make sure to make your company visible in various social media networks.
- Monitor the response of your audience - lastly, to measure the success of your campaigns, it is very important that you monitor the responses of the audience. You can get ideas from their responses and most importantly, you would know about their views and opinions about your products or services.
Using the Internet to promote your products or services is definitely a good idea. However, you should know that this does not guarantee success most especially if you will not follow the tips mentioned in this article. It is very important to remember that Internet is so big and it can be very viral so you should be responsible with all the information and statements that you will be releasing. It is easy to hit post or publish but once you do then you should be sure that you can stand by it or else you will lose your credibility and you do not want that to happen but of course.
Increase Customers to Your Small Business
One of the most important factors in whether or not a small business is successful is marketing. A marketing plan can be as simple as find a store front with a good location and having a bright sign to attract customers or can become extremely complicated with multiple streams driving sales. Most small businesses rely on traditional marketing methods which are slowly dying off and thus have hurt these "mom and pop" stores. With the internet boom of the last 15 years, small businesses not only have the ability to find customers, but they have recently found themselves competing with large companies that spend millions of dollars each year.
The problem with small business owners is that they are unable to wear the multiple hats that they need to and they do not have enough capital to supplement their shortcomings with a Marketing Director or a Chief Financial Officer who can specialize in what they are not good at. When it comes to marketing, there are so many possibilities that small businesses can take advantage of, that it will not matter where they are located!
Build a Website
I know that many small businesses have figured this out, but most of them have not built them out correctly or do not do much with them. It's not enough anymore to simply have a website, you need to build it and add content to it constantly. Make sure that it is clear what your business does, what it offers, and if you sell merchandise, you should pay a web developer to install an online shopping cart for you. One that I have found that is excellent and has a free and paid version is Magento. This will allow you to be selling items to people that you have never met and that didn't have to see your store while driving by.
Incorporate SEO and Pay-Per-Click
To show up on Search Engines such as Google, Bing, or Yahoo, you will need to either do a Pay-Per-Click campaign where you show up on the first page and every time someone clicks on your ad, you pay a certain agreed upon price to the Search Engine or you need to perform Search Engine Optimization (SEO). This is basically tactics where the Search Engines such as Google will recognize you as a premium site for a certain team. For instance, say you are a plumber and you love when your customers have a toilet that floods at odd hours because you can charge them three times the amount, then you may want to optimize your website for the keyword "Emergency Plumbing" or "Emergency Plumber". By doing this, when someone is in desperate need for plumber and it's an emergency, hopefully they'll see your ad first and call for your services.
Get Social
Social Media is playing a larger and larger role everyday in not only our social lives, but in business. Sites like Facebook and Twitter have exploded in popularity and are very powerful tools if used correctly. If you are a realtor, make sure to create a Fan Page on Facebook and mention to all of your friends and fans when you get a new listing or found someone their dream home. Make sure that they mention your name to all of their friends when you have done something good for them.
Constantly Learn
The web is constantly growing and changing, so it is important to stay up to date with different marketing tactics. If you have kids or a neighbor that may be more tech savvy, employ them to handle this task. I have spent a lot of my time learning from MarketingProfs. They have an Online University and you can sign up for them for I think $279 or $299 and have access to all of their webinars, but I just signed up for free and I get articles sent to me just about every other day that is offer a TON of information.
With the power of the internet and its ability to market, your vitamin store or flower shop can literally QUADRUPLE its revenues. That's right, I said QUADRUPLE! It's worth changing the way we think and do business to welcome the new business world and stay ahead of the curve.

For the past 13 years I have been an entrepreneur investing and being active in real estate projects, private businesses, consulting, and small-cap public companies. I have made a living by making investments in different areas that I have felt would yield me the best return on my investment as well as utilizing investors to have projects come to fruition. I often have friends of mine ask me for advice on buy ing their first home, where I think the next business opportunity will be, and even how to get started. I have written endless business plans and am what some would construe as a "deal junkie". I love coming up with new ideas, putting a plan together and putting the pieces together to execute them. We are still in a recession and I felt that this would be an excellent time to give my two cents to whoever wants to listen. Why Do We Have All These Bags for Life Anyway?
Last night I cleaned out my cupboard under the stairs. It had over 18 "Bag for Life" bags in it. Purchased out of guilt in a variety of materials in jute, plastics and cotton from Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Tesco and Asda (not sure if Lidl or Iceland do one yet), poly bags from Ikea, heavy duty cotton bag from Robert Dyas, low-grade cotton bags that get dirty very easily from gift-shops and coffee houses printed with logos saying things like "At Book Club I only read wine labels" or "Love Me, Love My Shopping". I have a fabulous gold bubble wrap bag not so environmentally friendly carrier bag from Miu Miu which is too good to use so it stays in the cupboard with the paints and I remind myself to take it out (but it seems appropriate to carry it on the school run or to Tesco).
When I do the weekly shop I remember to take a few of these bags (representing each supermarket to remain impartial) finding that the preferred are those with both short and long handles so I can attach them easily to my child's pram and on my shoulder, although a couple of weeks ago I was challenged by a security guard as I loaded products into my environmentally friendly carrier bag as I dashed through the aisles and was accused of shop-lifting but you try pushing a pram with a small baby in it whilst pushing a trolley or carrying a basket at the same time. When our daughter was first born, working out how to shop with baby, pram and bags was a conundrum. I cried once after leaving the supermarket with the pram so overloaded with bags that the wheels wouldn't turn and it tipped back leaving my daughter with her legs in the air and a bottle of Shiraz rolling backwards into a flowerbed. I have improved my shopping technique since then.
My other quandary is if I carry all my shopping in these environmentally friendly bags what do I put my rubbish in? A waitrose polybag is perfect for my Ikea rationel bin and so I justify myself in that I am fully closing the recycling loop. Their bags claim to be biodegradable so surely this is a Good Thing? I don't want to buy plastic bags specifically for my bin when I can get them free from my local supermarket. I did ask the cashier at the supermarket about this but her answer was to shrug her shoulder and smile.
I use my luxury carrier bags (less seem to come my way nowadays); the ones with twisted or rope handles for my recycling. I have been told by someone in the know to avoid using the ones with metal rivets or foil printing as they can't be recycled as easily. Though the world is a gloomier place and we will apparently remain in financial limbo till 2032 I think a small tipple should be poured in the direction of the environmentalists and those that join in to support them. Recycling wise, compared to 20 years ago, I think we are in a much better place. My council has a fantastic recycling collection service, the supermarkets are making biodegradable plastic bags that I can use for rubbish and when I remember, I keep a couple of bags for life that can take the weight of a small country for hanging off my pram handles which and allows my newborn see what the sky looks like. We've started a more considerate environmental journey in our daily lives. Lets hear 3 cheers to that!
The Five Best Ways To Advertise Online
If you have ever wondered where the best places are to advertise online, and whether you should be paying for it or not, the following should help you:
Advertise Your Niche Only
If you are a start-up business, you should consider finding a niche to specialise in. If you are positioned strongly at the top of a single niche, it gives you more credibility. Strangely enough it also increases your chances of getting more business in other niches. As an expert in online marketing I have often been asked to help with offline marketing campaigns as well.
Once you find your niche, you can look for facebook pages or groups, blogs, forums, e-zines and websites in your niche and you can post content. Articles are the best for this, but you can also post comments and replies to others' posts. These should all be free of charge.
You can pay for advertising in magazines and newspapers but this should only happen when you have tested your ads and tweaked them until they work. Only then will it be beneficial to pay for advertising because you know you will get a return on investment.
Advertising in a group or forum that specialise in your niche will make your traffic more targeted which will give you more sales. This is because you know which people to target and where to find them.
Google AdWords
Google Adwords is still a great way to advertise if you are a start-up business. However, competition makes it more expensive than it used to be.
Also if you are not too sure of what you are doing, you will lose money on advertising rather than making money.
With Google, you mainly use a powerful headline. To make sure you get response from the ad, you need to have tested it. Flyers are the best for this. Once you get a response from your flyers, you know it will pull clients to you with Adwords.
It is better to get someone who knows what they're doing to help you with your first ad on Google Adwords.
Or you can read a good book about it: The Ultimate Guide to Google AdWords, available from Amazon.com.
Advertising on Facebook
Facebook is a great option because you can target gender, specific age groups, relationship status and demographics. You can even target interests and occupations.
If your ad doesn't have a high click through rate you will pay a higher rate per click. So it is necessary for you to have a great picture, a powerful headline, and focusing your targeting.
You can start with a small budget of $5 - $10 per day to test the waters. Once your ad starts converting well into signups for your newsletter or sales, you can increase the amount.
To get your ad converting well, target your market exactly. For example: "Investors: Looking for an investment property in (City)?"
You need to monitor your ad closely. If the clicks start to get more expensive, it is time to change something: the words or the demographics. It is hard work to keep your cost per click down, but it is worth it.
StumbleUpon
StumbleUpon is great for getting traffic to your website. It offers both free and paid traffic. The trick with StumbleUpon is to get your visitors to stay longer than 2 seconds. You can also pay for clicks and it is much cheaper (5c per click) than anywhere else, but you need good visual content or a good article to entertain so that they stay long enough to get hooked.
StumbleUpon has the potential to go viral. So if someone likes your content, they may share it with others, making the 1000 clicks the potential to turn into 10,000.

Make Money Online by Being Creative
If you want to make money online while working from your home you do have to be creative. If you are really creative with your hands and are into crafts you can certainly create a lot of craft items and then sell them in an online shop. This online shop may be someone else’s shop or you could start your own online shop. Again this will take creativity because you have to distinguish your shop from the others that are out there in cyberspace. You can sell your own crafts on one of the online auction sites such as esty. You can either set it as a bid type setup or open your open store and have everything be buy it now. You do have to pay the owner of the site something for the privilege of letting you sell on their site. Because they have already been creative and started this site so they can make money online too.
There are other ways to make money online such as starting your own blog. You don’t even have to set up your own blog but you can get someone else to set it up for you. You just have to search the internet to find the right person to set it up for you. They may do it for free or you may have to pay them to set it up properly. Of course you will have to choose what it is you want to blog about. There are some very good blog sites such as some of those that just blog about designer handbags. If they attract a lot of attention and get a lot of people writing on the blog it will attract attention of various advertisers who will be willing to advertise on that blog site.
Say you wanted to start a blog site about restaurants in the pacific Northwest or even narrow it down to one state then you would either figure out how to set it up by trial and error or get someone else to set it up for you. It all depends on what skills you have and how fast you can learn how to perform this task. Once you have the blog up and running you would have to get people to come to the site. You can create some buzz by contacting some of the restaurants by telephone or through emails and put your blog site within the emails that you send out so people might open them and start to blog on your sit also. You could also contact some local papers or magazines all of which have websites that you can contact with your blog information.
What you are doing here is basic advertising for a new business but you are using the internet to do it instead of hanging vinyl banners outside your front door which probably would not generate you much blog traffic anyway. There are also internet services that can help you generate traffic also so be creative and you will succeed.
Multi Level Marketing Asking Too Much Of You? 3 Steps To Turn It Around
Multi level marketing would force you to go through a steep learning curve. Don't beat yourself up, it's normal. Read this article to learn simple steps to get by these tough phase and achieve results for your MLM.
Syazril Izmal
Multi level marketing is a playing field. With (sometimes)low entry cost, and a ridiculous potential of limitless dream achieving possibilities, you get to decide whether you want to be a part-time go-getter or a full-time tire kicker.
Even when the rewards are just mind blowing, you might think that the determined choice is obvious, but if you have been long enough in the industry, I could safely declare that you'd know what I mean. You don't have to take my word for it, statistics show that 97% of new MLM entrepreneurs fail in the first 2 years.
Ninety seven percent! I know... it shocked me as well when I first found out. But rather than talking of the doom and gloom, let's focus on how we could be amongst the 3%. Shall we?
Go-getters are Doers. If you have met any one of them, you would know what I mean. They just don't know how to stop. And in MLM, a go getter would ALWAYS finish first, even if he has not made his money yet.
A(caring)MLM leader would always advice you to start the business part-time. And as a part-time go-getter, success is not too far away. Here are 3 steps you could do to turn things around...
Find A Mentor
If your sponsor could not identify why you are stuck, maybe you should actively look for a leader who could give fresh inputs. Work up your sponsorship line to find the person who could offer genuine help. Probably a criteria to consider is a person who is already successful with his campaign, and find out how he is getting the results you seek.
Just be a Doer. Remember, MLM is a very unique industry. Everyone is in direct competition YET still complements each other in a directly BIG way. If the leader helps you, he has EVERYTHING to gain with YOUR success.
Don't hesitate, Just DO It.
Learn New Skill Sets
Without learning anything new, a brain cell literally dies every second. So, from the second you know this, make every effort to find new skill sets to learn.
Do you think you are lacking in Sales? Or your marketing approach has been disasterous? Probably exploring copywriting techniques, distribution or online marketing, just choose something and have that laser focus attention to master it. If you don't know where to start, get your mentor to suggest a starting point.
Don't stay still, Just Do It.
Lead Your Team
Probably a requirement that is avoided by most networker marketers. A fact, to succeed in MLM, you need to step up and be a leader. There are two obvious benefits for this.
1-Being a leader would allow you to absorb better when implementing what you have learnt. Education is best learnt by either role playing(as a leader) or by teaching it to others.
2-Be a role model. Most networkers are concerned if they could achieve success. Just show to them your good practices, and you would definitely create a following. Lead them with value in mind and they would never stop but follow what you have to offer.
Step up. Just Do It.
Do not be concerned if MLM is asking too much of you. Initially, you might get overwhelmed by the changes that you have to make for yourself. However, by taking baby steps, your goals would certainly be reached before you know it.
Always be a go-getter, nothing should stop you. Own your dreams and pursue it relentlessly. Be focussed and persevere. Your dream awaits.
